What inspired me to make this artwork to represent power was watching a storm roll in over the field out at our farm. I love the way lightning looks and have always thought of it as incredible. The inspiration from lightning is conveyed in the lightning

artist: Caspar David Friedrich
title: Wanderer Above the Sea Fog size: 3'1" X 2'5" year: 1818 media: oil paint For my self portrait art piece, I drew the silhouette of a fisherman on a boat in the sunset. To me, this drawing is a self portrait. Because, it shows the things I love. I love fishing and the outdoors more than anything else in the world. That is what this artwork means to me, it means me.
This result is what I expected as an outcome. I wanted to have the silhouette almost as a secondary subject to the sunset and water. I know it's not as good as some people could do. But, I tried my best to recreate the texas sunset hanging over the flats. A good part of my childhood that I remember was spent down at the coast on the water. I was pretty familiar with the materials I used. It was just sketched and color pencil. I used this material because they were the materials I thought would make this piece look best. I figured the colored pencils would be better for the sunset than chalk pastels. I'm also not confident enough with paint to try and do the sunset with it. Title: Bonjour Monsier Courbet
Artist: Gustave Courbet Media: Oil paint Dimensions: 4'3" x 4'11" Year: 1854 For the surrealism project, I painted a picture of a large tree in the middle of the desert. I feel that seeing a tree in the middle of the desert is pretty surreal. The tree in my picture has very green leaves because it's in the desert, you wouldn't expect to see this since there isn't much water.
I created this art piece because I think it represented the theme very well. The hard thing about creating this painting, was not mixing the blue and yellow paint. mostly because I wanted a defined line between the hills and the sky. I like this painting, because it's an impossible situation. This may not be my best work, but I tried my best to make it good. Overall, the painting came out ok. I created this artwork to represent light. This painting represents a star in space, doing star stuff. It was the best way in my mind to represent light in my mind.
Yes, the art work is what I expected, it turned out how I wanted it to. The end result is what I wanted, because I wanted it to look like a star in the sky. It conveyed what I wanted it to. I was thinking that I wanted this to look like a star, when I started. It looks like how I wanted it to look. Although, it could have been better if I'm honest. The subject for this project was sound. I carved lines into a piece of linoleum, making squares and rectangles. Next, I used a red ink, and stamped the print on to a white piece of paper once upright, and once flipped over. This left an x in the middle from the direction I carved the linoleum.
Is the piece what you expected? Why or why not? Yes, the piece is exactly what I expected, mostly because I had an idea of what it would look like before I even started. Were you experienced with the medium you used? No, I was not very familiar with the medium of printmaking, it ended up looking exactly like I wanted it to. Overall, the project turned out well, it looks the way I wanted it to and I enjoyed using the new medium. My work could have been better had I put it on black paper vs. white paper. I still love the way it looks though, so it's not a big deal at all. I would say my most successful art work is my Texas flag. I like the way things came out on it. The paint and messiness make it look older, which i was going for.
I over came the most obstacles with my Texas flag painting. It was very hard to get the right amount of messiness and age, and also paint the star correctly. The two pieces that show the most growth for me are my flight piece, and my Texas flag piece, I became much more comfortable with paint and repousse foil in these pieces. I am happy with the way they both turned out. The new way of teaching has helped me, because it allows me to do what I want and what I think will look better using the skills I have. |
