My art work is original because i decided to use the Texas flag to symbolize home. I have never really seen anyone else do it that way. It is also original because I made the painting a little messy. We also used black paint sprayed on it to help the painting look aged. Overall, I believe that my flag is a good original painting to symbolize home.
I took a risk by using paint. I have never done much painting before this, so I wasn't entirely comfortable. Overall I am happy with the way my project turned out. I made it look a little messy, and sprayed it with black spray paint to make it look older. I'm glad I took the risk I did and used paint.
I learned a new technique for art this past week, oil pastels. Oil pastels give you a different texture, that almost looks like paint and crayons put together. It's easier to use than paint, but looks nicer than crayon, and blends better than colored pencils. You use small circular strokes to blend, as it doesn't leave scribbly lines. Oil pastels can look very good if done correctly.
On the environment project, I took a risk by using oil pastels. Last week was the first time we learned to use oil pastels. This was a completely new process for me, learning how to blend the colors was a bit of a challenge, but I think I did well. You have to use circular strokes, because straight ones leave a lot of white behind. In the end, oil pastels give a nice color and texture, and I am happy with the work i did.
We learned how to use oil pastels this week. To blend oil pastels, start with a darker color, and use a lighter color to blend it. Use small circles while blending. Because, it does not make scribbly looking lines, it is also much quicker.
We started using colored pencils this week. To blend colors, you use colors that are fairly similar and lead into other colors that aren't like your original color.
To make a color darker, do not press down harder. Just go over the section multiple times using the same amount of pressure. During this project, I developed shading and drawing skills. I have gotten much better at drawing than I used to be.
